Workcation in Malta – Maya Parnis from Ecovis in London
Maya is a member of the ECOVIS Wingrave Yeats Business Advisory team in London, UK. In 2023 she completed a workcation at the Malta office.
Why did you choose to do a workcation?
The UK office currently allows us up to 4 weeks of working from abroad, which was introduced when I initially joined the firm in 2021, off the back end of Covid-19. I would use this opportunity to return to Malta to visit family and friends.
We had a fellow colleague from the ECOVIS Clark Jacobs office working in our office space whilst he was in the UK. This gave me the idea that I could do the same in Malta, to not lose out on working in an office environment whilst being away from my UK colleagues for an extended period.
Are there any challenges?
Working in a new office can be daunting at first, however this is something I quickly overcame as soon as I got into my new routine.
What is the biggest advantage of workcations for you?
Personally, it’s being able to visit my home country for longer periods of time without needing to use my annual leave – and the weather of course!
Would you recommend workcations to your colleagues?
Most definitely! We have this unique network of people and offices in over 90 locations all over the globe, which we need to utilize more of. The network can enable us to understand how different office environments work – and potentially take a page out of their books too.
